"I have been managing my own company for many years and that leaves very little time for any thing else beyond family. During this time not only my company had grown but I had as well. After I turned 40 I realized that I needed to do something to improve myself physically before it was too late. With great trepidation I went to a gym for the first time since high school.
Although I was severely over weight and concerned about how I would be received I inquired about a physical fitness program for novices, (I had no idea how to go about using the machines much less how to structure a program.) Before even attempting to utilize the machines, Jim Cleveland interviewed me to determine what my personnel goals not only short term, (losing weight) but also my long-term goals, which naturally included keeping the weight off, and toning my body.
Jim was able to take my goals and gradually work me into a program that while demanding was personalized to help me transition from an inactive overweight body to a physically active body, which improved with each session. Jim's efforts not only consisted of implementing a training program while working with him, but to make me comfortable about using the gym for cardio workouts on days I did not train with Jim. This then transitioned into recommendations, which included timing of meals, types of meals, and an overall psychology that transformed my life. That was almost 4 years ago and although I have achieved my initial goal of doing something to improve my physical fitness, the experience has provided me so much more.
I now carve out a set time each day for self-improvement, which starts with feeling good about your self. This I was able to achieve due to the positive personalized coaching techniques utilized by Jim in his program which helps clients like me not only meet our short term goals but obtain an attitude which is designed to last your life. The extra unexpected benefits from working out was an overall improvement in my confidence level which helped me to stay focused at work, which had a direct effect on my productivity meaning less hours spent at work because when I was there I was focused on producing. I have been challenged to work hard, but not been pushed beyond my physical capabilities and so I do not get hurt! I have been taught about muscle groups and how to stretch in order to avoid injury.
